Number one thing I want you to remember! Being comfortable is EVERYTHING! The best route is usually something that moves with you and hugs you in all the right places!

Plan your outfits around what you know about the conditions at the location we will be shooting at. You'll want to be warm enough, cool enough, have pain-free feet, and look relatively native to your environment. The idea is to authentically capture you wherever you are

Pick fabrics that move with you, add a cosy texture, get picked up by the wind, filter the late afternoon sun, & glow in the morning light. Avoid stiff-seeming garments!

Aim for neutrals, earthy tones, and metallics. The colors compliment the outdoor environment almost anywhere you go and look beautiful as a printed framed photograph. A rule of thumb is to choose to either compliment your environment or contrast it!

For families it's best to keep your color scheme limited to four colors. You can choose one person to wear a feature color and have everyone else's outfits compliment that. Compliment each other, DON'T match. When multiple people wear the same color, a lot of times their outfits blend together so much that you can't really see any of them properly. The viewer can't tell where one person begins and the other ends. They turn into one uniform blob. The idea is to have everything look good together without it all looking the same.

Try to avoid large bold patterns as they often dominate the photograph and distract attention from your beautiful face. Usually small subtle patterns work best. Flannels or a light floral print are great when they compliment the location but sometimes less is more. Try to limit yourself to one pattern at a time. Example: Either you, your partner, or child wear the pattern.

Hats, coats/jackets are a fun way to jazz up your accessory game. Throw some fun in your bag but avoid large distracting pieces.

Go for the subtle things that accentuate your personality and help to tell a story about your life. Think pets, a motorcycle, an instrument, a skateboard, an umbrella, even a bottle of wine! Props don't have to scream "PROP!"

Makeup looks are totally your call! I want you to look like YOU! So you do whatever you need to do to feel confident and beautiful!

As for hair.. Oh boy! I'm a sucker for the way a wild mane blows in the breeze! Up-dos are alright, and I totally get it! It's easy to just throw your hair up! As a mom, that's my main hair-do. But when it comes to it, I think hair down is the way to go. With your hair down, you get movement, you get interest, you get some perfect slices of imperfection in the best possible way!
